Note
The European Movement in the Republic of Macedonia, in its endeavours and activities, takes as a departing point the basic goal: to contribute to the creation of united and federal Europe, founded upon the respect of human rights, the principles of peace, development and prosperity, upon the democratic values of freedom, solidarity and participation of citizens. The Movement shall particularly strive to promote the European spirit and ideas in our country, while in terms of action it will be directed at embracing the values and standards of European integration in the country, leading to full and qualified integration of the Republic of Macedonia in the European Union.
The fields in which EMRM carries out its role and objectives are: public and informative activity, research and studies, consultancy, education and training, publishing etc.
Standing Activities
- Establishment, maintenance and use of databases on the activities of EMRM and the International EM.
- Creation and maintenance of a WEB site of the EMRM.
- Creation and update of bibliographic and document resource basis on the relations between the Republic of Macedonia and EU as well as on the integration of RM into the EU.
Public Actions, Debates, Conferences
- Involvement of EMRM and other NGO's from the Republic of Macedonia in the Citizens' Assembly 2004 and the debate on the Future of Europe (May-June 2002).
- Association of EMRM with the Permanent Forum of Civil Society, establishment of cooperation with CEDAG and CITTADINANZATTIVA, the network for active citizenship (May-December 2002).
- Macedonia and the European Union - Progress or Regress (Debate, June 2002).
- Crisis and Inter-Ethnic Relations in Macedonia: Social Substance and Political Reflections (Debate, September-October 2002).
- The Charter of the Fundamental Rights of the European Union - Which Way in Macedonia? (Debate, November-December 2003).
- Macedonian contributions and input to the Convention on the Future of Europe as well as to the Draft-Constitution of the European Federation. A series of analyses, experts' meetings and debates (till the end of June, 2003)
- The European Movement in South-East Europe - Meeting and Round-table of representatives of EM national councils in the SEE countries, on current issues of integration of the region into the EU. (November-December, 2002)
Research and Study Activities
- Euro-barometer, annual public opinion survey in RM on Europe, EU and integration into Euro-Atlantic structures, jointly with some media-agencies (2002, 2003, 2004).
- Producing and publishing of a multi-lingual-Macedonian Dictionary of European Integration (2002-2003) and Macedonian-European Lexicon (2004).
- Research project Civil Society and Macedonia: Construction Difficulties and Challenges (June 2002- December 2003).
Information and training-education projects and actions
- Publishing an electronic review of EMRM (from January 2003).
- Regular meetings of the Forum of editors and journalists on foreign policy and European affairs.
- Training and instructive activities for teachers and students in secondary schools, quizzes for students in the field Macedonia and Europe, etc.
Marking of 9 May, the Day of Europe
- Regular annual activities of educational, informative, public and solemn character.
Taking part in the Programme of events of the International European Movement
- EMRM will actively take part in the events organized by the IEM or initiated by individual national bodies of the EM.
